Felix Awards honour French Canadian music

QUEBEC CITY - The musical Notre Dame de Paris and the indie rock singer Jean Leloup were the big winners at the 21st annual Felix Awards in Quebec City last night.

The awards are French Canada's equivalent of the Junos. Notre Dame de Paris won prize for best-selling album, best pop album and the award for the "Artist Most Prominent Outside Quebec."

Two of Notre Dame Paris' artists were also honoured during last night's gala. The singer Bruno Pelletier was named male performer of the year, while the artist who simply goes by the name Garou took home the best new artist award.

Meawnhile, Jean Leloup won three Felixes: composer-songwriter of the year, best rock album of the year for Les Fourmis and best show of the year for a singer-songwriter for his Jean Leloup au printemps.

Leloup did not attend the ceremony.
